Day 1: Upon arrival at your hotel you will have an orientation meeting with your local expert walking guides. On each walking day throughout your holiday there will be a moderate and a challenging walking route. During the orientation meeting your local expert walking guides will discuss the kind of distance and terrain you can expect for both walking routes, and the level of physical fitness required for the moderate route and the challenging route. You will have some free time at leisure for independent exploration before joining your fellow group members for a welcome dinner at your hotel.
Day 2: Today there is a moderate and a challenging walking route. Both routes set out on a circular path in the Ensagents area in the Andorran parish of Encamp. Both routes will pass through a black pine forest until the pretty Lake Moreno is reached. This is a very tranquil location, set at 2365 metres above sea level. From Lake Moreno the both routes will continue towards Ensagents shelter. Upon reaching Ensagents shelter the moderate route will head back towards the starting point on the circular path and the challenging route will continue climbing high in to the mountains to reach the magnificent open views of the peaks and crests in the area. The challenging route’s ascent will lead to the Ensagents Lakes and then finally the summit of the Alt del Griu at 2874 metres before taking a different downhill route to finish the walk.
Day 3: Today there is a moderate and a challenging walking route. Both routes will embark on a walk along the Rialb Valley towards Siguer Pass which is at an altitude of 2395 metres. From here the group will cross over the border in to France descending towards the magnificent Étang Blaou (Blue Lake) located in the French region of the Arège. From Blue Lake the moderate route will begin their descent to end their walk while the challenging route will continue to trek onwards, climbing the area around the Blue Lake to reach the summit of Pic de Thoumasset which is situated at an altitude of 2742 metres. To end the day’s walking the challenging route will walk downhill on the same path that was taken for the ascent of Thoumasset Peak.
Day 4: You will have one full day at leisure to experience the great outdoors in Andorra as you wish. Andorra offers some of the finest walking paths in Europe, many of which are well way-marked and clearly signposted so they are perfect for independent exploration. Or perhaps you would like to soak up some of the local culture. If so, we recommend checking some of the other nearby small towns and villages to experience their unique medieval charm. Eating local food is one of the best ways to discover a destination, and the Andorran cuisine takes on many influences from its neighbouring countries so make sure you try some of the delicious dishes the region has to offer.
Day 5: Today there is a moderate and a challenging walking route in Coma Pedrosa Natural Park. Both routes will embark on walks through forested areas filled with various plants and flowers, ideal for any botany lover. Both routes will lead to the Coma Pedrosa shelter, and it is from here that the moderate route will begin the descent to finish their walk. The challenging route will continue further with an ascent to the Estany Negre (Black Lake) which sits at 2636 metres above sea level. From Black Lake begin the last push towards the peak of Coma Pedrosa. Coma Pedrosa is the highest mountain in Andorra standing at 2942 metres and is extremely popular with mountain climbers. Its ascent is technically straightforward, but also strenuous, offering the ideal challenge for those who want to test themselves. Once the Coma Pedrosa’s peak has been reached the reward is the excellent panoramic viewpoint of the rest of the Pyrenees.
Day 6: Today you will have another full day at leisure for independent exploration in the Andorran Pyrenees. We suggest taking the gondola lift from La Massana to explore some of the other nearby mountain resorts. Your local guide will be happy to suggest activities to suit your taste, but you will certainly be spoiled for choice of outdoor pursuits in this spectacular landscape.
Day 7: Today there is a moderate and a challenging walking route in Sorteny Natural Park, which is home to more than 700 species of flowers and plants, 50 of which are exclusive to the Pyrenees. Both routes will embark on a walk towards the glacial lake of Estanyó. Upon reaching Estanyó Lake, which sits at 2330 metres above sea level, the moderate route will begin tackling their descent. The challenging route will continue from Estanyó Lake with an ascent to the crest of Roc del Rellotge (The Clock Rock) and from here will then follow a path along the ridge until Estanyó Peak is reached. Standing at 2915 metres Estanyó Peak offers a magnificent viewpoint of the surrounding areas.
Day 8: You will have one final morning at leisure in the mountain village of La Massana to spend as you wish. This is the perfect time to do any last minute exploring or simply soak up the tranquil mountain surroundings of La Massana.
