Board Magellan in Liverpool today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.
Day 2
Dublin, Ireland Arrive: 0700hrs
Depart: 1800hrs
Magellan's first stop is Dublin. This great city of culture, once home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift, is one of Europe's most engaging capitals. Grafton and O'Connell Streets are popular with visitors, as are the city's famous bars and pubs, cafes and coffee shops.
Day 3
At sea Spend today relaxing on board.
Day 4
Lerwick, Shetland Islands Arrive: 0700hrs
Depart: 1600hrs
Our next port is the Shetland capital, Lerwick. Spend time exploring this rugged but enchanting town, or join an excursion to the 3,000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.
Day 5
Bergen, Norway Arrive: 0800hrs
Depart: 1800hrs
Compact and friendly, Bergen was once a great trading city within the Hanseatic League. It remains Norway's second city and, despite being sheltered from the sea by its seven hills and outlying islands, is unashamedly nautical in outlook. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of 'Mount' Floyen.
Day 6
Olden, Nordfjord, Norway Arrive: 0800hrs
Depart: 1800hrs
Today you’ll call at Olden. This tiny village of clapbpoard houses and rolling green pastures is the starting point for an excursion, through scenic countryside, to the famous Briksdal Glacier. This immense frozen cliff is actually just one of the 50 arms of the Jostedal Glacier, which covers almost 200 square miles of the surrounding landscape in an vast, slowly shifting blanket of ice.
Day 7
Geirangerfjord, Norway Arrive: 0800hrs
Depart: 1600hrs
Exquisite Geirangerfjord is one of the smaller fjords, but is undeniably among the most beautiful. Today Magellan cruises its twists and turns through a landscape marked by crashing waterfalls and ancient villages like Hellesylt and Geiranger. Disembark in Geiranger to take in the beauty of it all, or to enjoy an optional excursion.
Day 8
Flam and Sognefjord, Norway Arrive: 0900hrs
Depart: 1900hrs
The tiny village of Flam, at the inner end of Aurlandsfjord, welcomes Magellan today. Here you'll have the chance to board the world-famous Flamsbana Mountain Railway for the journey to Myrdal. Later this afternoon, the ship navigates her way into stunning Naeroyfjord where some of fjordland's prettiest scenery awaits.
Day 9
Eidfjord and Hardangerfjord, Norway Arrive: 1200hrs
Depart: 1900hrs
Enjoy spectacular scenery as Magellan cruises through the 100km-long Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord. Here you can go ashore to enjoy an optional excursion through the beautiful surrounding countryside, perhaps taking in the famous Voringfossen waterfalls.
Day 10
Stavanger, Norway Arrive: 0700hrs
Depart: 1400hrs
The prosperous former fishing capital of Stavanger, its sleek modern buildings (especially the striking Norwegian Petroleum Museum) contrasting with the white-painted, clapboard houses of its waterfront and old town, is Magellan’s final Norwegian landfall. Step ashore to wander before we enjoy the breathtaking passage though Lysefjord, where the towering Preikestolen rock formation soars above the waters.
Day 11
At sea Spend today relaxing on board.
Day 12
Arrive Liverpool Arrive: 1200hrs
Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.
Magellan
At 46,000-tonnes and with a passenger complement of around 1100, spacious Magellan retains a sense of traditional cruising and small-ship intimacy, thanks to the beautiful layout and tasteful contemporary style of her public areas, and of course the presence of her friendly, welcoming crew and cruise staff. A major refit in 2010 has ensured her position as a thoroughly modern, bright and supremely comfortable floating home, and she is a hugely welcome addition to the fleet.
Facilities
Passenger accommodation is arranged on nine spacious decks served by eight lifts, wide corridors and stairways. Extensive teak decking adds to sense of spaciousness, and in addition to the extensive outdoor areas, there are several beautifully appointed lounges boasting panoramic picture windows.
Two beautifully appointed dining rooms, the Waldorf and the Kensington, as well as a less formal buffet-style bistro that offers indoor and outdoor dining, will tempt you at mealtimes, and there are three lounge bars and three deck bars where you can while away a convivial hour or two. Other on-board amenities include a night club, a casino and the magnificent, multi-tiered Magellan Show Lounge. For the energetic and body-conscious, Magellan offers a beautifully appointed wellness centre, a gym, two pools and Jacuzzis. A well-stocked shopping gallery, internet centre and library can also be found on board.
All Ages Cruises
Columbus, Magellan, Marco Polo and Astoria operate primarily as child-free ships, and do not have child-specific facilities.
Passport requirements
British Citizens will need a full, 10-year passport to travel on this cruise. Since some countries require visitors to be valid for at least six months after the return date of the cruise we recommend that all customers ensure that this is the case. Holders of non-British passports should check with the relevant embassies to see if any requirements and restrictions exist for any countries visited during the cruise.
