Day 1 – Arrival in Tenerife & Playa de las Américas
Fly to Tenerife. On arrival, we transfer to the Cleopatra Palace Hotel in the bustling resort of Playa de las Américas.
Day 2 – Los Gigantes Cliffs, Santiago del Teide, Roques de Garcia, Teide National Park & Night Sky Viewing
After breakfast, our coach and English speaking guide collect us from the hotel for our day discovering some of Tenerife’s highlights. We begin with the 600-metre Los Gigantes Cliffs, an incredible natural landmark which definitely lives up to its name! Rising majestically from the sea on the island’s west coast, the cliffs stretch for nearly 10km and are a sight to behold. We then spend some time in Santiago del Teide, a charming town in the popular province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, before continuing to Roques de Garcia. Set in the Las Cañadas caldera, this spectacular group of volcanic rock formations are one of the most popular sights of the Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Later this afternoon we check in to the Parador de las Cañadas in Teide National Park, where we stay for two nights. Later, there’s the option to join an informative astrophotography and night sky presentation with Pete Lawrence. Then after dinner, we go outside for a special late evening/early morning sky viewing, again lead by Pete.
Day 3 – Morning at Leisure, Solar Imaging Course & Night Sky Viewing
This morning is spent at leisure in Teide National Park. The famous park is centred on Mount Teide, Spain’s tallest peak and the highest volcano in the Atlantic Ocean islands. There are plenty of hikes and viewpoints on offer to take in the landscape of craters and petrified lava rivers. In the afternoon, enjoy a fascinating Solar Imaging course with Pete Lawrence before another night sky viewing later on.
Day 4 – Transfer to Playa de las Américas
Today we return to Playa de las Américas and check back into the Cleopatra Palace Hotel. Enjoy an afternoon and evening at your leisure.
Day 5 – Departure
We check out of our hotel and transfer to Tenerife South airport for our return flight home.
