Day 1
We board our ferry to Calais and stay overnight in France on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2
After checking out of our hotel we travel onwards to our main hotel in Tuscany, arriving in time for dinner.
Day 3 – Pisa & Lucca
We start the day in Pisa, one of Tuscany’s most popular destinations. Here we have time to explore the history hidden around every corner of this ancient city as well as the chance to take in Pisa’s must-see sights including the world-famous leaning tower. Later we travel to the city of Lucca, celebrated for its intact Renaissance walls enclosing a cobbled centre in classic Roman grid-iron fashion. During our time here we can soak up the welcoming atmosphere that this Italian city has to offer.
Day 4 – San Gimignano
Today we visit the picturesque Tuscan town of San Gimignano. Cameras at the ready for the stunning medieval city walls and 14 sky-scraping towers which punctuate the hilltop setting and can be seen for miles.
Day 5 – Optional excursion to Siena (£26pp)
On our optional excursion we take the opportunity to spend a day in Siena, a beautifully-preserved hilltop city surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, best known for its Palio horse race which takes place each summer in the Piazza del Campo.
Day 6 – Day at leisure
Day 7 – Florence
Today’s exciting excursion takes us to Florence, one of Italy’s most charming destinations where we can take our time to absorb all the beauty and culture of this historic city. Just some of the highlights include the Palazzo Vecchio, Giotti’s Bell Tower and the Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s lovely ‘Old Bridge’, which is still occupied by gold and silversmiths today.
Day 8
Travel to our overnight hotel in France, with a light evening meal included. Day 9 Continue to Calais for our return ferry home.
