The towns along the coast are full of whitewashed buildings with terracotta roofs and there are lots of pretty little fishing villages just waiting to be explored. If you’re interested in historical and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, you’ll be thrilled. Fascinating history and the bustle of modern life mix effortlessly all along the coast- you’ll find pavement cafes and fashionable shops just a stone’s throw from ancient monuments here. We stay in Tucepi, which is set in one of the most beautiful locations on the Dalmatian Riviera, with mountains behind and the Adriatic Sea and off-shore islands in front. The name Tucepi means “village by the water spring” and it’s these springs which keep Tucepi’s gardens and vineyards looking so green. The village has a long history, having been inhabited by the Romans and later Tucepi came under Turkish rule. You can visit the remains of three Turkish castles in Upper Tucepi. Other historical landmarks are the Church of the Little Lady and the Church of St Anthony, with its marble altars and stained glass windows. Today the resort is well known for its 3km long pebble beach - the longest beach on the Riviera - its relaxed seaside atmosphere and its spectacular coastal scenery. There are several bars, restaurants and beachside cafes in the resort, together with a handful of shops.
