Itinerary

Day 1

Fly to The Netherlands - Fly to Amsterdam, meet your tour manager and transfer to the colourful Dutch capital. Set out on an included canal cruise - which is sure to be a highlight of your visit - before enjoying a small amount of free time exploring the cobblestone streets and winding canals of this exciting city. In the afternoon, continue to The Hague and check into your centrally located hotel.

Day 2

Explore the gardens at Keukenhof - A wonderful day awaits you today. After breakfast at your hotel, you'll board the coach to begin the journey to the gardens at Keukenhof. Here some seven million flowers carpet the ground in a breath-taking horticultural display that attracts visitors from around the world each year. Wander the pathways that meander through this floral paradise, perhaps stopping in one of the gardens’ restaurants and cafes for lunch. You can even take an optional canal boat ride (payable locally) along the waterways that thread their way through the stunning gardens before returning to your hotel for dinner this evening.

Day 3

Included morning walking tour of The Hague - Rise this morning with a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before being joined by an expert local guide for a fascinating walking tour of The Hague. Across this two-hour excursion, you’ll explore the political heart of The Netherlands from its historic palaces to the heart of the Dutch parliament. Discover the palatial seats of the Dutch royals, learn about the Oranje dynasty’s lasting impact on the world, and take in the riverside Binnenhof, the home of the Dutch government. You’ll also be introduced to a handful of the city’s delightful cultural attractions including Mauritshuis, which showcases the work of renowned artists Rembrandt and Vermeer, and Gevangenpoort Museum, housed in a medieval prison (entrance is payable locally). As you wander The Hague’s historic plazas and bustling streets, you might even bump into a minister or two.

Day 4

Morning at leisure with included afternoon Zuiderzee visit and return flight to the UK - Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel before spending the rest of the morning at leisure on the Hague's nearby beaches. Head to Scheveningen, the city's famous beachfront district, and set out under your own steam to make the most of the nearby promenades, piers and seafront. Along the city's 11 kilometre stretch of coastline, you'll find plenty of things to keep you entertained from charming cafés and resorts to quiet sandy beaches. After a relaxing few hours spent by the sea, reboard your coach for the delightful villages and windmill-dotted landscapes of The Netherlands' reclaimed Zuider Zee. Stroll the pretty streets of the historic fishing village of Volendam – once trodden by the likes of Picasso and Renoir – and catch a glimpse of Dutch life through the ages in its preserved traditional houses. You’ll also enjoy behind-the-scenes insights into one of Holland’s most celebrated crafts with a wooden shoemaking demonstration, and cheese-tasting session, at a traditional local business (typically a working farm). Later in the day, you’ll head to Amsterdam Schiphol for your flight back to the UK

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately one hour.

Room tax

There is a local city tourist tax in The Hague of approx €6.20 per person per night payable locally that will need to be paid for directly to the hotel. This is subject to change.
