Day 3
After breakfast, you have a full day of exploring aboard the coach. You’ll start by meeting your tour manager and then setting off to the surrounding sights of the city. In the Old Town, the Goldenes Dachl, which translates to ‘Golden Roof’ is a highlight of the tour and is considered Innsbruck’s most famous symbol.
The Roman-inspired Triumphal Arch is another point of interest and looks even more striking with the backdrop of snow-capped peaks. You’ll also get to enter the Hofburg, a former imperial palace of the Habsburg dynasty, dating back to the 13th century.
In the evening, you can head back to your hotel for dinner.
Day 4
Following breakfast, you’ll embark on another enrapturing journey by coach. Today's itinerary includes four mountain lakes.
Firstly, you'll visit the picturesque Thiersee, a small lake that is hidden between the mountains on a high plateau. This lake is rich with wildlife and an excellent spot for a second-morning coffee.
You'll then board the coach to continue on to lake number two, Schliersee in Bavaria. This beautiful lake has developed as a result of the melting of ice age glaciers and is known for its little island in the middle of the lake.
The third lake on this panoramic journey is Tegernsee, which is not only famous for its beer brewery but also its sparkling water. A must when in Bavaria is to try the local beer and if you're hungry, also the well-known weißwurst.
Today's final lake will be Achensee, one of the largest and deepest lakes in the region. You'll be driven along the lake in the narrow valley to reach Pertisau, where the lake is at its widest. This place is perfect for a coffee and cake or a stroll along the shore.
You'll board the coach for the last time today to return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 5
Today, you can fuel up on breakfast and choose to join an optional excursion. You’ll travel by coach from Alpbach to Mayrhofen, a popular town for outdoor enthusiasts with its alpine peaks perfect for skiing in the winter. The tour will stop here, giving you time to have coffee and cake (on your own account) while soaking up the spectacular surroundings.
The coach will then travel up to the Hintertux Glacier, Austria’s only year-round ski region. You’ll be taken to the highest of three stations, sitting at 3,250 meters. This station has a panorama observation deck offering an incredible vista of the mountaintops below.
You’ll then head back to your hotel for dinner after a scenic drive.
Day 6
After breakfast, you’ll jump on the coach again for a trip to Salzburg, sitting on the border of Germany and looking out over the Eastern Alps. Interspersed by the Salzach River, this city is awash with an array of architecture, ranging from medieval to baroque.
You’ll meet your local guide and then be led through the streets, passing by notable landmarks, and learning about Salzburg’s intriguing history. Following in the steps of Mozart, you’ll walk to Getreidegasse, a shopping street in the Old Town, Altstadt – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and his birthplace. You’ll be able to view the Salzburg Cathedral with its grand dome and two towers and the Alter Markt square, encircled by stately houses.
Following the day of activity, you’ll make your way back to the hotel and have dinner.
Day 7
Make the most of your last full day, and after breakfast board the coach to the picturesque town of Zell am See, set on a lake. You’ll have some time to wander around this well-loved resort.
The tour will then continue to Kitzbuhel, a fashionable alpine resort, home to boutiques cafés, and a grand medieval square. Here, you can do some shopping and have an amble around.
You’ll return to the hotel for your final evening and dinner.
Day 8
Check out of your hotel and transfer back to Munich, a journey which will take two hours, for your flight back to the UK.Â
