Based in the charming town of Brasov for 4 nights, we’ll have the opportunity to photograph the remarkable region of Transylvania with a tutor from the Dublin Photography School and the award-winning landscape photographer, Stewart Kenny. They’ll be on hand to offer tutorials, demonstrations and photography tips as we travel to the highlights of Transylvania. Our excursions include visits to the picturesque town of Viscri, the historic village of Sighisoara, and the imposing fortress of Bran Castle. With stunning mountain scenery, unspoiled countryside and charming towns, Transylvania is the perfect holiday destination for anyone looking to develop their documentary, street and landscape photography skills.

Day 1: Upon arrival in Bucharest, you will be met by our local representative and transferred by coach to your hotel in Brasov. Brașov is surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains. It is known for its medieval Saxon walls and bastions, the towering Gothic-style Black Church and lively cafes and will be your base for the duration of your holiday. (Approximate transfer time from Bucharest to Brasov is 3 hours & 15 minutes)
Day 2: Your day will start with an orientation tour of Brasov with your local expert guide. Brasov boasts everything from dynamic modern city life to old world charm and fascinating scenery. After a photography demonstration with the tutors from Dublin Photography School there will be ample time to photograph Brasov's highlights which include the old Town Hall Square, St. Nicholas Church, the oldest Romanian Orthodox church in the country and the First Romanian School of Schei which dates back to 1495 and the Gothic Black Church. The Tampa Mountains Watch Icon Afternoon After some free time for lunch in Brasov, we will make our way up to the Tampa Mountains where you will have the opportunity for panoramic views and plenty of photo opportunities over the medieval city of Brasov. There will be some climbing involved today so wear comfortable shoes. Night time photography shoot Watch Icon Evening Can you think of a more atmospheric place to practise your photography skills than Dracula's Castle in Transylvania? In the late afternoon we will continue to the famous Bran Castle, which is referred to as the home of the title character in Bram Stoker's Dracula, to experience the history, the myth, and the magic of this towering fortress. You will have an opportunity to visit inside the castle if you wish (entrance fee is not included) before a night time photography session.
Day 3:This morning, depart Brasov and travel along one of the most spectacular mountain roads in the world, the Transfagarasan Road, into the impressive Fagaras Mountains, commonly known as “The Transylvanian Alps”. This 100 km road was built in the ‘70’s by Dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, as a military road connecting the two Romanian historic provinces of Wallachia and Transylvania and photo stops will be made throughout the journey so you can capture the landscape. See Lake Balea Watch Icon Afternoon The highest point of the day will see us at Lake Balea, a glacier lake which is situated within the FagaraÈ™ Mountains ,at 2042 m above the sea level. There will be ample time to take photographs at Lake Balea before returning to Brasov in the early evening. At leisure Watch Icon Evening You will have the evening free in Brasov to spend as you wish. Check out some of the city's lively cafes or continue to practise your night time photography skills in your own time.
Day 4: Today, we will travel north to Sighisoara, a beautifully preserved medieval town set in rolling countryside and a designated UNESCO World Heritage site. Enjoy a an orientation tour through the cobbled streets with your local expert guide. Following this there will be a photography demonstration from Dublin Photography School tutors and ample time for you to take photos. Highlights this morning will include The Church on the Hill and the impressive Clock Tower which dates back to the 13th century. Each day a different wooden figure emerges from the belfry on the stroke of midnight, and a drummer strikes every hour. Saxon Village of Viscri Watch Icon Afternoon After some free time for lunch, we will travel onward to the traditional Saxon village of Viscri. It is famous for the few traditional houses that Prince of Wales bought, restored and converted into guesthouses for tourists, contributing in this way to a better and sustainable future for people of rural Transylvania. Enjoy ample photo opportunities before returning to Brasov in the early evening where the remainder of your day will be at leisure.
