Day 3: Dusseldorf – Rüdesheim
This morning we arrive in Dusseldorf, the German city famous for its fashion industry and huge art scene. You’ll experience a taste of the old and the new here, with modern and stylish architecture standing alongside more traditional buildings. You have the opportunity to join an optional guided tour of the city or, alternatively, why not indulge in a spot of retail therapy in the popular shopping area of Konigsallee. We return to the ship for lunch, before continuing on our way towards Rüdesheim.
Day 4: Rüdesheim
We arrive into the quaint wine town of Rüdesheim around lunchtime. There are two optional excursions to enjoy today. The first gives you the chance to visit the unique Siegfried’s Mechanical Museum and get a bird’s-eye view of the breathtaking Rhine Valley from a cable car up high. This evening you can join our optional tour to visit a traditional wine cellar and sample some of the superb wine that the region is so famous for.
Day 5: Rüdesheim – Koblenz – Bernkastel
We leave Rüdesheim this morning and set sail towards the historic city of Koblenz, one of the oldest, most beautiful and most diverse cities in Germany. This afternoon you can join our optional excursion to explore the pristine Sayn Palace with its tranquil butterfly garden. This evening we set sail towards Bernkastel.
Day 6: Bernkastel – Trier
We arrive into Bernkastel around lunchtime. A destination famous for its wine, there’s no better place to enjoy a bit of free time to yourself than in this picturesque 700-year-old town. Meander around the beautiful market square and pick your favourite spot to sit and watch the world go by, surrounded by half-timbered houses and gently-trickling fountains. Of course, it’s only right that you should do this with a refreshing glass of Riesling in hand! This evening, we sail towards Trier.
Day 7: Trier – Cochem
This morning we arrive into Trier where you can enjoy some free time exploring this ancient Roman city, which is one of the oldest in Germany. You can also join our optional guided tour which will give you a fascinating insight into the history and culture of the city, discovering ancient Roman ruins as you go. Later today, we return to the ship and set sail for Cochem.
Day 9: Andernach – Bonn
What better way to start our final day than with some optional wine tasting in Winningen? At lunchtime, we continue our journey to Bonn, the former capital of Germany and birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven. Here you are free to explore the city at your leisure, but be sure to check out the Dragon Rock Railway, leading to the top of magnificent Drachenfels hill. It’s then time to cast off for the final time and cruise to the beautiful city of Cologne, dominated by its huge Gothic cathedral.
Day 10: Cologne – UK
This morning, we bid farewell to our captain, crew and ship and begin our return journey to the UK.
